Over 60 passengers on the Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas came down with what appears to be noro-virus. The symptoms include gastrointestinal issues, vomiting and diarrhea. This was a four-night cruise to CocoCay, Bahamas, and Key West, Florida. The ship docked back in Miami and the 2,500 passengers were unloaded. We’ve talked a lot about the virus. It seems to be part of the drill when cruising. The bug tends to be where large numbers of people are concentrated. Cruise ships seem to be the place.

If someone boards the ship and has it, it can be spread by touching things they have. It is highly contagious. It runs a span of just a few days. The victim is quarantined I their room to prevent further infection. Will we be wearing gloves in the future? Think how many hand rails you slide your hand down. The sneeze bar at serving areas is just that – to keep “things” off the food. Hand sanitizers work. But is that enough?
