Cruise ship lecturers get promoted throughout the ship when sailing.
This is a fun part of the experience.
To see your name in:
- lights
- well, hear on the announcement
- here
- there
- everywhere
My biggest fear is that I will get the time wrong. The wrong day. The wrong hour.

It is quite easy to lose your sense of days on a cruise. Monday? Friday? Uh … who cares?
And when you go east to west or west to east as in my last cruise from Miami to Nice, there are time changes. You lose an hour of sleep every other night.
Then … on the way to the breakfast buffet … there’s the elevator ride. Unless you are fortunate to live one deck below the buffet, or are wanting to the stairs to prepare your innards for the trauma they will face in a few hundred steps … the elevator is the only way to get to the buffet.

BTW… taking the steps when possible is a great option. Any exercise is better than none considering all the food that you are surrounded by.
Oh … the elevator. You will oftentimes find your name in print. You will strike up a conversation during the 15 second ride.
“That’s me! I am speaking later today in the …. room”
You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how many people you have just met in the elevator who show up.
It’s fun to be promoted.
You can experience that fun as well.
