Make no mistake – if a product is worth the price, people will pay the price. Simple as that.
But people do like free.
I used to offer meetings for free and all kinds of people showed up – generally a poor quality audience in terms of interest.
When I started charging – more and better people showed up. Go figure.
But people do like free.
We once tried to unload a futon for Free on Craigslist. Dead end.
I told my wife to put it on Craigslist for $100. It sold the same day.
But people do like free.
So, what can a speaker give away for free without losing time in creation and still give value to his audience and enhance credibility?
4 suggestions:
1. an eBook – I gather series of articles that I write here and put them into eBook form and give them away. See below.
2. articles – the high quality stuff that you spend a lot of time working on. 18 steps to get on stage on ship.
3. videos – record anything and everything you can. Put it up on Youtube. Password protect it. Then give it away to interested listeners.
My personal Youtube Channel. I have another that I create when I teach. I don’t give that one away.
4. audios – some people prefer to just listen … during their commute … while they work.
5. white papers – same as an ebook really. It just sounds better and could be given away as a simple pdf or .doc .
Offer your listeners something of value. If it really is valuable, they’ll come back for more. And if they don’t, they weren’t your client anyway.
