I am interested in what event organizers look for in their keynote speakers.
The cruise ship seminar leader is similar to a keynote speaker. S/he is the main banana in a series of 3, 4 or 5 lectures that will be delivered on a topic that was chosen by the cruise ship lines.
Nobody else will be talking about the same topic.
That means the cruise ship talker needs to be in top form.

If I can know from industry professionals what they are looking for in keynote speakers, I can apply those lessons to my on-board presentations.
Here are 3 must-haves to deliver a powerful message:
1. Tells Personal Stories – that are interesting, relevant, include humor (but not jokes or off-color). When the speaker opens up, becomes vulnerable without being self-serving, it brings the crowd in.
2. Connects with listeners’ emotions – a great speaker can make the audience roar with laughter at one moment, shutter with anxiety the next, and tear up at the climax.
3. Sets the mood – A powerful speaker will get the audience excited, buzzing with anticipation at what is coming next, bright-eyed with eagerness at whatever twist or turn the talk might take.
Nobody said it would be easy to be a powerful speaker.
But, when speaking is done well, everyone says it’s really cool.
