We are not going to harp to you about “These challenging times,” or “these are difficult times” or “we are all in this together,” or “the new normal.” You’ve heard them too many times. When the coast is clear, we will be on cruise ships again.
So what would a company that is in the business of coaching speakers tell you?
We say, hang tight. The cruise industry will get better. With nearly 300 ships in the Cruise Line Industry Assn, and 30 M passengers in 2019, it is not going to die off. We’re talking big money.
Once the Virus is under control – the ships will be ready. They are undergoing massive anti-viral cleaning. After the surprise in 2020, they are taking every precaution not to repeat.

Since the ships are NOT registered in the US, they are not getting any “cash” from the US taxpayers. Their decision to register off-shore to save taxes has bit them big. While the lines will be parked for a couple months (at least), they are champing at the bit to get back to sea. They have to get revenue or they will go under.
This pent-up demand means a strong need for entertainment staff and speakers.
Here at SpeakOnCruises, we are at least 67 feet apart and wearing our Black Bart Masks. We are taking it all seriously and since 90% of our seminars are via the Internet (Zoom is now our default platform), we can comply with all guidelines.
So, we suggest, you get your training now. Develop your themes, work on your resume and dig out that YouTube of you speaking. If you can’t do one now, let’s apply anyway. The ships/agents know you have to be creative. Agencies are the gatekeepers. We know them all and can introduce you. .
Drop us a line and we’ll go over the process. Get accepted as a lecturer now to be ready to jump on openings when the black clouds dissolve and blue skies roll in.
