

There are about 380 cruise ships on the high seas now. This provides a capacity of over 27 million passengers. We’ve seen the annual pax load rise a million a year.
At the rate the major lines are rolling out ships, it’s expected that about 500 ships will be sailing in 10 years. They hope to take 40 million passengers on cruises.
Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Norwegian Cruise Lines have the most ships. All have ships on order and are building more. MSC has an amazing investment going with 13 more ships on order through 2027. This represents about 50,00 beds to the industry.
Close to 40 cruise lines have orders for new ships. What’s it cost to build one of these? How’s half a billion USD and up! Most of the shipbuilders are in German and Italy.

All this bodes well for lecturers on ships. There will be a lot more slots for speakers. Ships need to entertain passengers – lectures are a smart way to do so.
