Star Trek Turns 50 – Norwegian Pearl to host Captain Kirk and crew

That headline is correct.

In 2017, William Shatner, aka Capt Kirk, is set to be the host of a 6-day cruise on the Norwegian Pearl from Miami. Turns out, 2016 is the 50th anniversary of the TV series. The beloved Spock has passed onto his great reward, as have a few of the other original stars. Shatner, while he’s not hawking cheap hotel rooms will be decked out in his Kirk suit (if it fits) for events on board.

Capt Kirk

James T. Kirk to sail the Caribbean.

Other stars from the movies and spin-offs include Marina Sirtis and Jonathan Frakes from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Robert Picardo from Star Trek: Voyager, James Darren from Deep Space Nine and Denise Crosby from The Next Generation.

So what is in store?  These folks will be busy while sailing. Norwegian plans to get their money’s worth as over 2,000 die-hard fans will be onboard. I’m sure shuffleboard will not be popular.

Also, speakers like us probably will not be entertaining. Locations from the films and TV shows will be re-recreated shipboard.

The Pearl will depart from Miami and head to Cozumel, Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay. The plan is for the fares to start at $975 per person. I love the original Star Trek and a few of the movies. Not a fan of “Next Generation.” The Matrix – yes – but I digress.
