I have a preacher friend in India. His name is Ajai Lall. He says pretty much the same thing that other preachers say.
You know – “God loves you.” “Love one another.” That kind of thing.
The difference is, some preachers say “Love each other” and it pretty much goes into one ear and out the other of the listeners.
When Ajai says the exact same thing, “Love one another,” the listeners think, “Wow, we’d better love one another.”

Why can two people say the same thing and one get heard and the other not. What’s the difference?
What are the qualities of the professional speaker that gets him/her heard when others who say the same thing get ignored.
1. Courage – the effective speaker has taken his/her fears head on and beaten them. There is a power and conviction in his/her voice that speaks from having been there, done that.
2. Authentic – absolutely no pretenses. What you see is what you get. It is what it is. The real deal. And other such buzz words. Completely transparent.
3. Integrity – no fudge factor. No speaking out of both sides of his/her mouth. Did what s/he said s/he would do, Does what s/he say s/he will do. No need to exaggerate because the real story is impressive enough.
4. Character – walks the talk and talks the walk. You can hear it in his/her voice that the experiences have chiseled out the person they have become.
5. Competent – the speaker doesn’t tell you what could work but what DOES work. Because they themselves have done it.
6. Confidence – comes from having proven their talk again and again and replicated those results in the lives of others. There is head knowledge and experiential knowledge. The latter is at the foundation of confidence.
Start with these 6 and you can be a leader, a professional and people will follow and listen, too!
