Just this one thing will give you credence in your talk.
Get a BRITISH accent.
Surely you hear that English staccato on radio ads for lawn care, shampoo and electronics. We perk up and listen. Why? Because it’s different. If voiceovers were all basso with deep neutral accents – like a radio show – no one would listen. Kids singing “1-800-CARS FOR KIDS” gets an ear because it’s not like NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams.
Different voices are well, different to our ears, so we perk up. What do they know about driveway paving stones?
In my experience on ships, the Brits who give destination or enrichment talks come across as knowing what they are talking about. Sure many are very talented…but if I had that British accent, folks would sit on the edge of their seats. Now they sit back and soak it in. I suppose that if I gave lectures while on European ships, my cowboy Yank chatter would make them sit up.
Do I have to use “fortnight” or “whilst?”
Yeah, that’s the ticket! Become a Brit for your cruise. Hey, we can help you get on the ships of your choosing. Get wet – Jump in the pool. Give us a call.
