I get about 2-3 free cruises a year. That’s enough for me. Like you, I need to bring home some bacon in the meantime. I don’t get paid as a result of my cruise, so what else can generate income from?
Have you tried doing webinars? My passion is hiking Half Dome at Yosemite National Park. I got pretty good at it. I wrote the only book on hiking it and have done this 12-hour RT hike 40 times. Gee, an expert. So I have been giving webinars. I use GoToWebinar. It costs $99 a month. My email service is $19 a month. Web hosting another $12. I have done seven so far. I go over the Half Dome news, of course, but also do the other major trails.
I invite anyone with a pulse, including those off my humble email list. I found that FREE draws a crowd. People are so used to getting anything off the web free, they forget it takes my time and resources to put these together. At $8.00 a session the audience shrunk from the 50 people my first two free ones attracted. When I asked for donations instead, I got 3. Gee, do you folks tip?
So now I have a sponsor. I charge them for “ads” that I do at the beginning and end. They get exposure to a large audience of targeted prospects and the services are paid for. It also provides a tad for dog food.
Be creative and monetize your talents. The webinar route is very easy to do. The audience has to register to gain access so you can build your email list. Plus it is recorded, so you can offer it to others –for a fee. I dropped mine to $4.00. That should be within the range of anyone but the hard core cheapskate.
Plan your next cruise in the meantime!
