Professional speakers, on cruise ships and otherwise need some fundamental web skills.
And the better they are at those web skills, the better they will do their jobs – entertain, educate or persuade their audience.
Fortunately, there are not that many web skills that are necessary. Or are there? You tell me.
The most important web skill I can think of is SEARCH.
More than anything the professional speaker needs good current and relevant information. Gone are the days a speaker can pull everything out of their internal reservoirs.
Example – History hasn’t changed. But what we know of the past has increased.
Another web skill that is needed by the professional speaker is WEB PRESENCE BUILDING. Building online presences that are searchable for clients is what I do in my ‘other life.’ It is no good to be ‘online’ and not be findable. Knowing how to be found is essential. You can read more at BillBelew.com or stick around here while I tell SpeakOnCruse readers how to do it over time. Your call.
A third skill is ONLINE NETWORKING. I am not a super fan of social networking. I do, however, have a presence on
Facebook,
and Twitter.
I have a significant presence on each, and sure enough, I get contacted at various times via one or more of those mediums. In future posts, I will dive in to how to create these if the reader doesn’t already know.
What am I missing? How are your web skills?
