Why should a professional cruise ship speaker want a Facebook profile?

I can’t think of a good reason why.

Facebook is a social network where you can keep up with friends and family members. You can also find old friends and maybe make a connection to new friends.

But none of these reasons seems sufficient for me to want to spend a lot of time on the largest social network in the world.

Reminds me of a Yogi-ism (Yogi Berra). “It’s too crowded. Nobody goes there any more.”

The one reason (as a professional speaker) I have for being on Facebook is one of my agents posts her latest need for speakers on Facebook BEFORE she announces them at the agents home site.

I log on to Facebook solely to learn of the most recent announcements of needs for speakers.from this agent.

I take a look. Then run to LinkedIn.

Facebook is a great tool to stay in touch with friends and family. It is not your best choice of social network if you want to do business … especially as a professional cruise ship lecturer.
