I am speaking to a Toastmaster group in 5 days.
The topic I am given – Marketing with Social Media – is one I talk on a lot. But this group is not one I have spoken to before. By that, the demographics of this group is unique.
I usually talk to small businesses, groups of small businesses or to large groups of people who share the same business interests.
This group does not have a clear common thread. They are speaker wannabes, but the topic is not about speaking, Their day jobs are all over the place as well.
The short is, it is up to me to come up with a common thread. And after I do that, I need to tweak my deck/presentation to relate to them.

Tweaking the deck is what I did today – several hours of fiddling in fact. I have something I can work with if I must but I don’t like what I have. There is no clear theme to my presentation yet and without a clear theme it is impossible for me to get my wording on the slides right.
The good news is I have 5 more days to get it right. The bad news is 2 of those days are holidays. The good news is 2 of those days are holidays.
I will be ready on Sunday. But not yet.
