Where Passion Comes from in a Cruise Ship Speaker’s Presentation

Cruise Ship Speakers are Storytellers

Cruise Ship Speakers are Storytellers

Some of the dumbest things speakers can say is “I am really passionate about this topic.” Or, “I am really excited to be here.” Or, “This is really funny, interesting, sad …(insert reaction).”

These are elements of a talk that cannot nor should be vocalized. Rather they should be inherent in the presentation, the delivery.

You do not raise your voice because you are more passionate. It is because you are passionate about what you are saying that your voice responds. You don’t jump up and down to show you are excited. It is because you are excited that sometimes your feet will leave the ground.

A story is funny because people laughed. They don’t laugh because you told them it was funny.

Passion comes from deep commitment to the truth you have learned in your subject.

Passion comes from a profound belief in what you are saying.

Passion is a reflection of what’s going on inside. You don’t tell people what to see then try to convince them. You are something, passionate, and it oozes out. People will notice. You don’t have to tell them.
