Motivational Speakers are out | Move over for a new kind of presenter

The winds of change are blowing.

Motivational speakers are on their way out. There’s a new kind of speaker in demand.

Says Jeff Korhan on the new professional speakers,

What inspires and motivates audiences these days is substance.

Audiences are much better educated these days. And what they don’t know they can look up immediately.

Expertise + Delivery + Motivation

Expertise + Delivery + Motivation

A couple of weeks ago the preacher at my church told of a lull in a funeral he was conducting. While waiting for the casket to be moved, nearly everyone standing around was checking their smart phones/tablets.

People know what they want to know now … or can look it up.

What audiences want is for the speaker to give them something solid to act on. Audiences are looking for someone to aggregate the information or even to sift it out and tell them what they need to know and sometimes more importantly what they do NOT need to know or where they should NOT waste their time.

Substance is the new demand. The professional speaker who has an expertise AND can motivate AND can deliver the goods in an engaging manner will be the new king or queen of the stage.
