I don’t like to go to the evening dinners when I’m on ships. Huh? Yes, the food is awesome…but it takes so darn long to go thru the ritual of it all. Blasphemy, you say!!
First, you usually get assigned an early (6:30 pm) or late (8 pm) time. I’ll faint if I have to wait until 8 pm to eat; I try to get the first seating. Often, as a speaker, you get no choice. Most older paying guests also prefer the 6 pm seating so they can see the cabaret show then hit the sack about 10. With the late seating dinner can drag on until after 11.

A two-hour dinner is not a thrill for me. I’d prefer to get a quick bowl of soup and get horizontal and watch a flick or read a book. That’s just me.
Many lines do offer alternate places to eat, but on the luxury lines (which I prefer), the dinner experience is something the older set enjoys.
No, get me in and get me out. I could eat a bologna sandwich and be happy. Chili dogs also ring my bell. In – out and off I go.
Give me a shout and I’ll tellyou all about life asa cruise ship speaker.
