We’re often asked just how hard it is to be a cruise ship featured speaker. Yes, it’s hard. They are not handing out free trips to anyone with a pulse. You earn it.
You’ve GOT to be good. Good speaking skills, good credentials, good stories, good graphics, good dress and you have to be the expert at what your talking about.
It takes hours of research to get your talks so they entertain an audience that is on vacation. It’s gotta be fun. You have to make it relevant to them. What “take-aways” do you offer?
Rehearse, be extemporaneous, use images, insert video clips, add media like audio, no bullets, try audience involvement, have continuity with your other talks. All of this makes for good ratings. Yes, you WILL get rated. And sadly, not just by those who hear you. You represent the line and guest will assume that you WORK for the line.
Off stage you have to look good, act appropriately, use acceptable language and be helpful. Once you are done your talk, you are still “on.”
So is it hard? Yes, but well worth the work. We’ll tell you more. Just contact us and we can allay all your fears. It’s fun.
