Good storytelling takes your listeners on a journey… even while they on a journey!
Your cruise ship audience loves to travel … even while sitting still. They are travelers by nature … which is why they are on the cruise ship in the first place.
Take your listeners on a journey.
Allow them to experience the struggle you faced, or your protagonist is facing. Make your main character, even it is you, vulnerable.

Your best character will be someone your listeners can relate to. It might be them when they were younger or them in the future. Best is when they can identify right there, right then.
Good storytelling has tension, resistance, obstacles and challenges to overcome.
Follow that up with a ‘hero’ or a method to overcome that has worked for you or your character and your listeners will say “Yeah!” or maybe just smile because they can’t lift their arms.
Don’t forget that good storytelling is a story well told. Try it on a family member, a grandmother, a child.
If you can keep their attention, you can do it on a cruise ship as well.
