Cruise ship lecturers are good at talking with their audience. Not to.
It’s a bit scary to allow for questions for a variety of reasons.
1. The questions might not be relevant. Consequently the seminar leader won’t be able to finish the talk
2. The speaker might not be able to answer the question. Sometimes the answer is, “I don’t know but I will find out.”
3. Sometimes the question asker will dominate the talk.
4. A question can break up the momentum the speaker is trying to build.

Still, the speaker needs to ensure they are having a dialog, that the listeners are engaged.
A very good speaker can read into the talk the questions that the audience is likely to be having at the moment. In fact, the speaker can be leading the listeners on to the point that they might be thinking, “And when did that start to happen that way?” Only to have you, the speaker answer that question for them.
Good speaker can ‘hear’ or lead their listeners to think, inquire, wonder and then satisfy those longings by moving the story along.
