Now that Presents Day is upon us, it usually means a day off work and maybe a fake sale. When I was your age, we had both Lincoln’s Birthday on Feb 12 AND Washington’s Birthday on Feb 22. Heck, that was when they were born. NOT on Monday. But I digress.
Lincoln’s was kind of of ta yawn but the stores went all out for Uncle George’s. HUGE sales. The kind like we have on Black Friday now. I mean TV sets for $25. Honest. Of course they were B&W. Isn’t the same any more.
As a speaker, you may wonder what a ship does during a day when it’s a holiday. Let me tell you, it’s a hoot. They always do a big deal event. I’ve been on at Christmas….VERY well done. A huge tree in the main area, decorations everywhere. But no Santa. On the 4th of July they do a nice American lunch out on the pool deck. With hot dogs, ribs, mac & cheese, apple pie, watermelon, etc. The staff dresses up in red, white and blue.

I’ve also been on at Halloween. Yes, passengers even bring costumes. A rule is that you can’t decorate your cabin door. Seems scotch tape is real hard to get off. Personally, I hang out in the wings and don’t get into it. Guess I’m shy in that regard.
Don’t worry , you will have fun.
