This is the last in my series of 6 ingredients to achieve excellence in your cruise ship presentation.
Confidence, Speech, Knowledge, Earnestness, and Love were the first five.
The last is Giving.
Be a giver.
It’s true, that speakers lie.
Not me, of course. Nor you, right?
Speakers are never as busy as they say they are, nor do they get paid as much as they say they do.
When I am approached to speak I get asked, too, “How much do you charge?”
I always give them a number to start the negotiations with. Then I add.
“I am willing to work within your budget.”
I have been paid well, and I have spoken for free. I have paid to speak, when you add up the time and costs to get to a venue. And I will continue to do this for as long as it makes sense.
My listeners know that I am a giver.
When we are willing to give more than ask, stay longer than require, pour out more than what was expected to meet people where they are, then we will be known as givers.
