Cruise ship speakers, professional or amateur, come in all sorts of flavors and sizes.
However, top-notch speakers have a few things in common.
There are 4 areas that a speaker must excel in to stand above their competitors.
They are:
1. Being technologically capable – know your gadgets, including which ones are useful and which aren’t. Know where/when/how to spend your time online. Social networking or social media? What is the best use of your time? Presentation tools – Powerpoint, Keynote, Prezi, Prezo, flip charts, white boards. Do you know what to use when and how to make the most of them?

2. Knowing best educational practices – ice breakers? Interactivity? One-way lectures? Q & A? Handouts? Homework? Videos? Do you know what to use and when and for whom and for all sizes of audience and levels?
3. Having Expertise – Are you current in your field? Well read? Staying up to date on current events in the industry of your audience and how you are relevant to them? Or do you rely on your history? These days audiences don’t want just good speakers, they want experts in their field who are good speakers. Are you both an expert and a good speaker?
4. Delivering Value – Are you making a positive difference in your listeners’ lives? Are they better off for having given you their time? Do they have real and relevant takeaways? Are you giving them something that only you can? Are you creating followers.
Master these four practices and you will be head and shoulders above the next guy or gal.
How’s it working for you?
