Confidence can be in short supply especially when the response from the audience is minimal.
There’s the lady who knits while you talk. And her husband snoozes because he’s just there because she made him come. And if you’re speaking after lunch, the carbs will kick in and your crowd or lack of one can shake you at your core.
But you can have confidence.
3 More Ways to Be a More Confident Speaker
3. Practice Your Body Language and Expressing Your Emotions –
Show your facial expressions to people you know and trust to give real feedback.
Do you look like your angry or constipated? When you flail your arms do you look excited, energetic or out of control?
4. Lose the Hesitation –
Be deliberate. Move from point to the next. Practice transitions. Know where you are headed and move and arrive there deliberately.
Pauses are great for effect. Not so great if you need the time to think what you will do next.
5. Make Eye Contact –
Look up. Not down. Let people see into your soul and let them find confidence.
