None too often an author feels that when the book is done, so is the work.
Not so.
I had been working on an ebook. It will be my 3rd ebook and 8th book overall.
Yesterday I finished my 3rd and final rewrite and sent it off to my tech writer.
As soon as I hit send, I felt relieved. I also didn’t feel like working.
Most authors know that writing a book is usually the easy part. Getting it read is hard.
Once the book is written, it is NOT time to stop.
Related: 3 Reasons Why Cruise Ship Lecturers Should Write a Book
Here are 3 reasons why:
1. Not an end all – books don’t market for the cruise ship lecture. They are just a piece of a marketing plan. There’s a lot of other marketing that needs to be done for the speaker.
2. Lack of focus – sometimes, okay often, an author/speaker can become so consumed with marketing the book that the rest of their business efforts suffer.
3. Opportunity loss – what if nobody is actually reading the book? I have said before that even a monkey can write a book. Books need to be read in order for them to be a real credibility boost.
Your book is done? That’s great for your resume and your cruise ship application. But don’t stop now.
