Stepping out of your comfort zone is important.
Baby steps. But give thought to a small baby step you can take that will change up your presentation.
However, different from being on the edge, the point here is for you to trying something you are not sure will work or not.
Don’t do something stupid. That would be, um, stupid.
But do something or try something that you are not sure of, that has a reasonable chance of being successful. It doesn’t matter where in your presentation … just try somewhere.
Try a different joke, a different story, a different video that you aren’t quite sure will work for you but leaves you enough space to recover.
If you are too afraid to try, then the simple truth is that you are not a professional.
When I lived in Japan I was often sent on a detour route because of road construction. In reflection I became surprised at how many times the detoured route became my preferred route, though I felt put out and uncertain at first.
Don’t just go to the edge and a little bit over, take a leap of faith and see how things work out. In the end you will be a more creative speaker for having tried.
