Confidence can be in short supply especially when the response from the audience is minimal.
There’s the lady who knits while you talk. And her husband snoozes because he’s just there because she made him come. And if you’re speaking after lunch, the carbs will kick in and your crowd or lack of one can shake you at your core.
But you can have confidence.
2 Ways to Be a More Confident Cruise Ship Speaker
1. Record and watch yourself –
Pick up on your faults. Correct them. Do better next time. Even few watch you can be sure you are watching.
Think – “I am going to send this recording to (insert person).
2. Know Your Stuff –
Don’t memorize. But speak from memory. If you have to read your notes then you don’t know your stuff.
It’s okay to read quotes. And there is a place for manuscript style delivery. But aboard ship is not the place.
Don’t let people think you need to have your notes. ”
I don’t know anybody who’s confidence isn’t shaken from time to time.
Practice these 2 steps and yours confidence will increase.
