I want to continue to improve. I like to think I am pretty good at what I do. I get good feedback when I speak on board. But I still want to improve. Do you?
5 hard steps to improve your lecture.
1. Hang Out With Other Cruise Ship Speakers –
· Find them on YouTube.
· Search for them online.
· Ask somebody in the speakers’ group you belong to if you can share war stories.
Watch other speakers do well, or poorly, what they do … and learn from them. Be a student of speaking every chance you get. Learn by watching.
2. Talk about what you love –
It’s tough to fake passion. You can try talking quicker, smiling more, raising or lowering your voice, swinging your arms more or less. But when you are genuinely bubbling inside, when your bones burn, the feeling can’t help but come out AND be noticed.
Your listeners will remember more of what they see than what you say.
It’s pretty easy to become pretty good. It’s really hard to become very good. What’s your goal in your speaking career?
