That being said stuffing your face with chocolate éclairs right before you run up on stage is poor form.
Eating well, having good energy is essential to good performance. Remember, if you have the afternoon time slot on the cruise ship your audience will be coming right after pigging out at the lunch buffet and could likely fall into a carb-induced coma. Or maybe be jittery from a sugar high. Okay, it doesn’t matter when you are asked to speak on a cruise ship. Your audience will ALWAYS be coming from just having eaten even it means they stopped by the ice cream machine on the way to the venue.

But not you, Mr or Ms Speaker. You will have eaten right. You will know what works for me. A protein snack is my choice.
The lesson is don’t be distracted by hunger pangs or worse yet, that stuffy feeling which overwhelms EVERYBODY on a cruise ship. Be hungry … but hungry to deliver a high-powered different kind of ‘snack’ for your audience.
Then you can head for the buffet restaurant.
