Changes at the top of top rated Crystal Cruises; GHK purchase complete

We told you that Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) of Japan has owned the brand Crystal Cruises for many years. In a move to diversify, Genting Hong Kong (GHK) completed the previously announced purchase of Crystal. The price: $550 million.

For the last 19 years, Crystal has been named the “Best Luxury Cruise Line.” Edie Rodriguez, will move from President and Chief Operating Officer to President and Chief Executive Officer. Thomas Mazloum, previously Executive Vice-President is the new Chief Operating Officer. The rest of the staff remains. You can look for a third ship to be added to the fleet in 2018.

GHK also owns Star Cruises, an Asian line and controls a major part of NCL.

The Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity ply the world’s “must see” ports and also in 2018, they will be the first big luxury line to go through the now open Northwest Passage.

Do they use speakers? – YES, Destination and Enrichment. Three speakers per day when the ships are at sea is normal. I am proud to say I mostly travel on Crystal. I do some destination talks, some enrichment and I also started the Nordic Walking Program and come occasionally to teach.

Want to try for a free cruise on Crystal?  We can show you how. But you have to contact us. What in the world are you waiting for?  My wife and I leave next month for Rome – Greece – Turkey.  YES!!
