Still more norovirus. | Virus continuing rampage of Cruise ships

It’s back in the news. The norovirus continues its plan to take over the planet and make humans their subject.

This highly infectious virus has ravaged major cruise lines in 2014, at pace that the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta is scrambling to address.

Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Princess lines are among those hit big time. The critter can be picked up through contaminated food or water or by touching contaminated surfaces.

It causes inflammation of the stomach, intestines, often leading to stomach pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. No fun. If you get it and if either you tell the staff, or they see you with malaise, you will be quarantined for 3 days. That means you stay in your cabin with meals brought to you as well as a heavy pile to toilet paper.

PS……

WASH WASH WASH your hands frequently and use the hand sanitizers they put out out. Do not touch the openings on your head. Norovirus causes about 20 million illnesses a year, 56,000 to 71,000 hospitalizations and as many as 800 deaths are logged. Not good.
