What is it about a suite that gives it the ‘luxurious’ classification on a cruise ship?

I have never been in one of these suites, but hey! who knows? It may happen someday, though I am not holding my breath.

The Allure of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas have a suite called the Royal Loft – 2 decks – that is bigger than my house. I live in Silicon Valley where it is REALLY expensive and a bigger house might afford me the possibility of buying one of these beasts. More than 1,500 square feet with the option to add an adjacent room for 2,069 square feet of space … while still on the ship! I thought the idea was to get away from home!  The master bath has a whirlpool and the living area has a baby grand. And and … a panoramic view.

The Queen Mary 2 has even bigger living, um, staying suites – the Sandringham Suite – 2,249 square feet, 2-deck and its own sweeping curved staircase. Add adjacent spaces for up to 9,000 square feet.

The Norwegian Cruise Line has the Haven Garden Villa – 3-bedrooms, sun deck, private restaurant and pool access are, um, stuffed into a 5,000 square foot space. Tough life.
