Cruise ship speakers can now use live connections to embellish their lectures! It took 14 years, but finally we are going to get strong bandwidth connections to the Internet. The latest ship to be launched in November will be the ginormous. It’s the Quantum of the Seas. It’s taking the leap.
The ship will utilize satellites from its partner O3b Networks. In the past, ships set up blocks on Skype, streaming and huge image downloads. No more. The Quantum will offer fast broadband connections to rival what you get at home. You’ll be able to crank up such data hog activities as watching streaming video, sharing images and having 1-1 conversations while sailing the seas.
This means you can WORK while at play. Yes, it’s good to get away from it all, but many of us run businesses and must keep tabs on the troops back home. No word yet on the prices.
Another teaser that the Quantum of the Seas is telling us about are robotic bartenders and the SeaPlex SeaPod, an Xbox multiplayer arcade. Rooms will have USB outlets. Inside cabins will now longer be a pox. They will have 80-inch LED screens on one wall, showing live feeds of the seas.
