Travolution (UK), reports that our friends at Google have been busy crafting their Street View technology to provide a look inside ships.
Royal Caribbean International is running with a new product called Google Maps Business View to provide travel agents with an interactive experience while planning a cruise.
Google HQ is a stone’s throw (we don’t throw many) from our headquarters at SpeakOnCruises. We know those geeks. They strapped on the famous Google gaggle backpack/tripod and wandered around the Allure of the Seas and took more than 20K pictures. 12 pix were taken at each area and high speed software stitched them into seamless scenes. All that took 8 days.
“For the first time you can sail the seas without being on board!”
Royal Caribbean UK and Ireland sales director Ben Bouldin said: “Consumers go online to research their holidays and this is the closest they can get to actually being onboard.”
