They just keep cranking them out. Royal Caribbean recenty pushed out the Harmony of the Seas. It now ranks as the biggest on the sea. It was built at the STX shipyard in St. Nazaire, France.
It’s finishing up its sea trials now and will be setting sail into the Med soon. If these numbers mean anything to you, it’s 227,000 tons and measures 362 metres in length. So it’s longer than the Eiffel Tower!
It just beat out their current big ships by 7,000 tons and a few inches. The line also owns the Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas. They are the Godzilla’s of the waves until the new ship sails.
How many people can fit onboard? Take the town you grew up in and invite them all. We’re talking 6,360 passengers and 2,100 crew – YOU do the math.
I’m still probing to see if these ships use Enrichment Speakers. I think they do. Wonder if a GPS is issued so you don’t get lost. Segways would be a great adder for $50.
On some ships, 3 laps around the deck equals a mile jog. Here, I bet you don’t even have to do one!
What does one of these boats cost? In September 2013, Royal Caribbean International shelled out $1.1 billion. AND they have 2 more growing from keel up.
I’d actually love to go it. Just to see it.
