Two life boats fell off a Royal Caribbean Ship near the Bahamas.
Hmm … got me to thinking.
Maybe there needs to be a cruise ship lecturer who specialize in survival techniques. I’d take the class.
I have read several books along these lines. Not about how to survive, but about people who have survived.
Sailing Alone Around the World by Joshua Slocum was won. It reads like a novel. Pirates and sea storms and such but it’s all true.
Adrift: Seventy-six Days Lost at Sea by Stephen Callahan. Amazing story of survival, how the guy was able to catch rain water and fish.
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand. This true story reads like a rookie’s bad first novel. Absolutely everything that could possibly go wrong did go wrong, yet the lead character survived.
And a last one is
The Endurance: Shackleton’s Legendary Antarctic Expedition by Caroline Alexander. What would have thought that you could be moved to tears when reading a book. But I was when I read this incredible story of leadership and survival.
What kinds of books do you read when you are on a cruise ship?
