Azamara Cruises will be the exclusive sponsor for the 13th Annual Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival. The Miami focused event runs February 20 – 23. Azamara, a high end line, will present: “An Evening Aboard the S.S. Wolfsonian with Anthony Bourdain.”
The Wolfsonian is a museum in the art deco part of eastern Miami. The Wolfsonian–Florida International University is also a library and research center that uses objects to illustrate the persuasive power of art and design, to explore what it means to be modern, and to tell the story of social, historical, and technological changes that have transformed our world. There are ove 100,000 pieces from the period of 1885 to 1945—the height of the Industrial Revolution to the end of the Second World War—in a variety of media including furniture; industrial-design objects; works in glass, ceramics, and metal; rare books; periodicals; ephemera; works on paper; paintings; textiles; and medals.
Bourdain, 57, is an American chef, author, and television personality. His 2000 book Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly, was a best seller. He hosts the Travel Channel’s culinary and cultural adventure programs.
There will be a number of celebrity chefs featured during the event that include Eric Ripert, Francois Payard, Fred Morin, and David McMillan. Bourdain will be working with these chefs to oversea the multi-course menu and will be joined by Azamara’s own Captain Johannes Tysse and Executive Chef Robert van Rijsbergen.
Proceeds from (SOBEWFF) will be given to The Wolfsonian-FIU Endowment Fund and Florida’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. Our kudos to Azamara for this sponsorship. If you are near Miami later this month, hit the Wolfsonian at 1001 Washington Ave, Miami Beach.
