In this introduction post I explained how I came upon this 12-part series of Weight Loss and Speaking on a Cruise ship. Please take a look.
Here in part 7 I want to address question 7 with a twist.
7.) Is there anything I desire that will lead to a greater connection with my audience? What is that desire?

It doesn’t really matter what you say. What really matters is what your audience hears.
What matters whether or not you are making the connection. Is your audience hearing what it is you want to say?
What steps are you taking to ensure you are connecting with your audience on their level?
How do you know you are truly resonating with those listening to you?
Are you sure they enjoy and can identify with your story? Or are they thinking, “Does this guy ever not stop talking about his kids?”
Are you looking for the best way to connect? What do you think is the one or several things you need to make most to make a real connection? Not an imaginary one.
Better eye contact. Jokes that do not offend. More interaction – give and take, questions and answers.
Are you even in pursuit of making the best connection to your audience possible? Or is it a non issue?
One of the best compliments a speaker can get is for someone/s to say out loud, “Are you done already?”
I spoke for an hour or more recently when in Shanghai. Sensitive to going over my allotted time I tried to stop. But my audience wouldn’t let me. Really. It was fun.
Make the connection with your audience.
They will be glad you did and so will you.
