I speak on cruise ships. I am leaving again for a cruise the end of the year and will be welcome the New Year while in the middle of the Caribbean Sea between Key West, FL and Cozumel, Mexico.
After that, I will be doing a trans-Atlantic cruise from Miami to Nice, France. It’s part of my quest to sail around the world. Literally, around the world.
I get asked – How much do cruise ship speakers get paid?
The answer is they, or I don’t get paid.
The cruise ship speaker gets to travel for free AND bring a guest. For free.
There are agent fees involved if you go that route to get on board (we recommend this) but it is still way cheaper than buying a cruise outright. And did I say you can bring a guest for free?
Plus there is the prestige of being part of the ship’s crew and the discounts that come with it and the open doors to leading tours and such for passengers.
A big plus, however, is when I put on my resume or speaker application or when someone is considering to invite me to speak that I have, by invitation of Cruise Line Alpha, traveled and spoken on my topic.
This experience is a huge credibility factor … and who measures how much that is worth? Can you tell me.
Let us tell you how to get a cruise ship speaking gig. Enjoy the cruise with your spouse. And watch more doors open to other opportunities, too.
Will Rogers said: It’s not how much you can ask, it’s how much you can get. In the end, the market will decide how much you get paid … not you or the ship.
