Where is the best venue to give a lecture on a cruise ship?

Where is the best venue to give a lecture on a cruise ship?

I have spoken in a lot of different venues.

On a cruise ship there are not that many options.

1. The main theater – seats 800 – 2000 people.

2. The conference room – seats 20-60 classroom style.

3. Anywhere they have open – barroom, ice rink, gym

The conference room appears to be the best bet … at first glance.

Not so.

I spoke in a bar and packed the place. The ambiance was not so hot but I had a lot of people drop in for a listen and stay around. And the full room gave off a great vibe.

The main theater would be super if it were full. But 8 people in an 800-seat room far removed from the stage where you are up high? Quite awkward. But … right after me came bingo. Lots and lots of people play bingo. And many of them come early to get a good seat = a chance to talk to more people if you can grab their interest.

If you can’t grab their interest the main theater lends itself to a lot of distractions. So … be good.

I grabbed the attention of 50+ people in line to get good seats for the ice show.

On another occasion I got another 50-80+ who were early for bingo.

The best place to speak on a cruise ship is the place you take the most advantage of. All places have pluses and minuses. Be good and it won’t matter where you are.
